Werkgroep ’72

Werkgroep ’72 is a Dutch volunteer organization in Jakarta. We provide small-scale assistance to disadvantaged people, mostly through local organizations in Jakarta and the surrounding area. These include projects in the fields of education, medical care, care for street and orphans and the elderly. We focus on the population who can use additional support.

The assistance offered may consist of financial support, the provision of resources or knowledge, the provision of a network or of executive activities. Without creating long-term dependence.

Our process

Werkgroep ’72 is run by volunteers and works entirely on a non-profit basis.

Some of the volunteers form the Board of the Working Group. Another part is more in-depth about our projects. As project leader, commissioner or general volunteer.

Werkgroep ’72 focuses on organizations based in and around Jakarta and have a vision of improving the conditions of disadvantaged and poor people. In addition, we focus primarily on organizations that work in the fields of education, health or general development. And have a help question to improve their product/service, make it more efficient or set up initially.

It is important that the organizations can operate independently. Our volunteers are not going to run local organizations, but they usually have an advisory or supportive role.

The assistance offered may consist of financial support, the provision of resources or knowledge, the provision of a network or of executive activities.

Over the years, a wide network of local organizations has been built and we are always actively looking for new initiatives. In the case of a new organization, it will first be visited by at least two board members, to acquaint themselves and to invent the need for support.

Among other things, we look at the reliability and potential of the organization and the feasibility and expected effect of the provided assistance / application. After a positive decision, an internal project manager will be assigned. This project manager will then visit the project regularly, involve volunteers in the project and report progress to the board regularly.
